Apprenticeship Pathway Program

apprenticeship program, Intuit, and Treehouse are partnering to launch a six-month software development apprenticeship program to increase the representation of historically excluded individuals in tech. This includes Black, Latinx, Indigenous, LGBTQ women and non-binary people. Apprentices get paid to learn during the program and, upon successful completion, can convert to a full-time software development career at Intuit’s Mountain View, CA headquarters.

What Makes Our Program Different?

Apprenticeship Program

  • Beginner-focused: No programming experience necessary. If you are interested in becoming a software developer, we strongly encourage you to apply!
  • Learn & Earn: Instead of paying thousands of dollars upfront or losing a percentage of your future earnings to pay back your bootcamp, this program is free, and you will get paid to learn software development.
  • Virtual Program: This program is 100% remote. You will receive hardware, software, and other technology tools to create an accommodating virtual learning environment.
  • Launch a New Career: Upon program completion, you will have an opportunity to start a full-time tech career at Intuit in Mountain View, CA.

How the Program Works

Learning Stage (February – April 2021)

  • Students begin full-time training through the Treehouse’s Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree program while being paid a living hourly wage. & Treehouse conduct weekly meetings with the students and employer for mentoring, coaching, and progress review. Once a student completes the Techdegree program, they will convert to an apprentice.

Apprenticeship Stage (May – July 2021)

  • Apprentices will continue to get paid a living hourly wage while learning Intuit-specific development processes. & Treehouse will continue weekly meetings with the apprentices and employer. Once an apprentice achieves the final program milestones, Intuit will present them with a full-time software development opportunity.

Career Support (August 2021 – August 2023)

  • & Treehouse actively mentor and upskill new Intuit employees for two years so they can navigate challenges and advance their careers.

Application Process

December 3, 2020: Program application opens.

December 10, 2020: First round screening begins.

January 5, 2021: Final round interviews begin (phone or video conference).

January 21, 2021: Begin sending out final offers to join the Apprenticeship Pathway Program!

Program Eligibility Criteria


While this six-month training program will be virtual, this cohort opportunity is specifically for Bay Area residents. 


This program is intended for people from groups currently underrepresented in the technology industry. This includes Black, Latinx, Indigenous, LGBTQ women and non-binary people.


Applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or GED, and be authorized to work within the United States.

  • Do I need programming experience to participate?

    No programming experience necessary! This program is beginner-focused. If you are interested and can dedicate 6-8 months to learn how to become a software developer, this program may be the right fit for you. If you do have programming or adjacent technical experience, you can apply for the program as well!

  • Is there a tuition fee?

    This program is free for participants! Not only that, but you will also be paid throughout the program to better enable full-time participation.

  • Will this program be remote or in-person?

    This apprenticeship program will 100% virtual until it’s safe to conduct in-person training.

  • What if I don’t have a laptop, webcam, or fast home internet?

    No worries! Please apply for this opportunity anyway! We will provide technical support to all program participants, so you have an ideal setup for virtual learning.

  • What if I am not chosen for the Intuit employment opportunity? will still offer support, primarily through the Membership platform. If the Learning stage was completed successfully, you will still have a portfolio and graduate certificate for the Treehouse’s Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree.
