May is Mental Health Awareness Month

How are you relaxing?

Creating work-life balance and caring for your mental health are important year-round. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, an important time to highlight the need for supporting women professionals and advocating for policies that encourage and normalize mental health practices. AnitaB.org aims to empower individuals to prioritize their own mental and emotional wellness as a building block for success in our professional roles and personal lives.

Here are a few suggestions that can serve as aids in your mental health practice 365 days a year:

  • Invest 5-10 minutes each day to practice mindfulness. Sit in a quiet, calm space, clear your mind, taking deep, slow breathes, and focus on reaching a state of relaxed, peacefulness.
  • Surround yourself with positive people and uplifting company. Remember that you have the power to remove yourself from negative conversations and environments.
  • Carve out time out each week to focus on your needs and enjoy hobbies and activities that make you smile.
  • Create a practice of recognizing all the talent you possess and value and contribute to your relationships, both at work and at home. Whether in meditation, journaling, or even on a post-it note, put in writing all the good you offer the world around you.
