More Must be Done to Address Claims of Sexism

After Susan Fowler wrote a blog post about the sexism she faced at Uber, Uber’s CEO Travis Kalanick organized a small group of people (three of who work for Uber) to investigate these claims. Vox Magazine interviewed Elizabeth Ames, the senior vice president of marketing, alliances, and programs at AnitaB.org, about Uber’s response. “I think it’s great that they want to really understand what took place,” she acknowledged. “However, the committee that is investigating doesn’t really look independent.”

Elizabeth noted that if Uber truly wants to fix its image, it must first examine its workplace culture and commit to promoting diversity and inclusion. “I’d like to see a long-term plan to really understand what the cultural issues are here and address them.”
