This year’s Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) was our biggest yet, with more than 18,000 people attending. Elizabeth Ames, senior vice president of programs, marketing, and alliances at AnitaB.org, credits the growing success of GHC to the tech industry’s growing awareness of its diversity problem. “I think it’s really an expression of how this issue has become a big issue,” she explained.
Although GHC already inspires thousands of people each year, we at AnitaB.org are determined to do even more to support women in tech, especially those who are unable to attend the event. “Building out local communities, empowering those communities to have smaller versions of [GHC], and growing this movement to a bigger scale that really encompasses all the women that are out there … it’s just the tip of the iceberg,” Elizabeth said.
