A Google employee recently wrote an essay against having diversity programs at Google, arguing that women do not belong in the field of tech. Google has since fired this employee, an action which Elizabeth Ames, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Alliances, and Programs at AnitaB.org, applauds.
“For years, whenever anybody stepped forward with sexual harassment allegations, did anybody get fired? Not so much. Now we’re seeing at least some people held to account.”
Elizabeth points out, however, that much more must be done if Google leaders truly want to create a safe and diverse work environment.
