Ruthe Farmer, ABIE Award Winner, Joins White House Office of Science & Technology Policy

We are excited to announce that Ruthe Farmer, the 2014 winner of the Social Impact ABIE Award, has moved into a new position at the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy, serving as Senior Policy Advisor for Tech Inclusion. Her role will include work on implementing the CS for All initiative and other tech related projects, emphasizing the inclusion of underrepresented groups.

Ruthe has focused her efforts on increasing girls’ participation in technology and engineering since 2001, serving as Chief Strategy & Growth Officer at the National Center for Women & IT (NCWIT) and directing the NCWIT K-12 Alliance. Ruthe is the driving force behind the hugely successful Aspirations in Computing talent development initiative, served as the 2012 Chair of Computer Science Education Week, was named a Champion of Change for Technology Inclusion by the White House in July 2013, and received the Ulla Popken Phenomenal Woman Award for her work to increase girls’ participation in technology and engineering.

We’d like to congratulate Ruthe on her new endeavor and wish her good luck!
