On February 12, 2020, AnitaB.org and Envolve Entrepreneurship hosted our inaugural Congressional Day of Action: “Realizing the American Dream & Redefining Inclusive Entrepreneurship.” Senior policy makers, finalists from our PitcHER™ competition, and many others joined us on Capitol Hill to discuss the importance of entrepreneurship and the barriers that small business founders — particularly women and those from underrepresented groups — face every day. Attendees got to tour the U.S. Capitol, participate in a roundtable discussion with the Senate Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, and meet with Members of Congress at the networking reception where they also showcased their businesses.
“At AnitaB.org, we work to advance systems of support for women as technical leaders, and that includes tech entrepreneurship,” said Dr. Stephanie Rodriguez, Vice President of Policy and Engagement at AnitaB.org. “It is critical that women subject matter experts have the opportunity to raise the issues that matter in their lived experiences, including nuances specific to the realities and horizon of technical innovation, as well as navigating and thriving as woman entrepreneurs. We thank the Committee as well as the attendees for elevating this important discussion.”
