From creating the “Computer Science for All” program to working on the national computer science initiatives under the Obama administration, Brenda Darden Wilkerson has made a major impact on the tech world. Now as CEO and President of AnitaB.org, Brenda is looking for new ways to support women and underrepresented minorities in STEM fields.
“One of the things I want to do is to extend our opportunity to so many more women,” Brenda said in an interview with Blue Sky. “I think there are a lot of women who don’t yet know how much we care about them and how much we are there for them.
“I want to start out by listening to different groups of women and to hear what their challenges are and what their desires are,” she continued. “I don’t want to assume we know every little thing about every woman. I think that’s one of the things that we suffer from, is that we’re viewed as a monolith.”
