Lean In-tern Program Connects Young Women in Tech

In 2015, partnered with Facebook and LinkedIn to create Lean In’s Computer Science & Engineering (CS&E) Student Chapter. This community allows female students to join “circles” — small groups of peers — to meet regularly, discuss challenges, and provide support. Now, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg has created a new extension of this chapter: Lean In-tern, a summer initiative for interns at some of the biggest tech companies in the Bay Area.

“I’m so happy to see our CS&E Circles connecting students interning at Bay Area tech companies, because peer support is essential to keeping women and underrepresented minorities in computer science and engineering,” said Sheryl.
