Simply Hiring More Women Technologists is Not Enough

Many believe that simply hiring more women technologists will solve the lack of diversity in the tech field. Although more companies are improving their diversity reports by hiring more minorities, the salary of these employees increases at an extremely low rate, causing many of them to leave the field. “The concern becomes if you’re just hiring them in and the environment is so negative that they then just turn around and leave, you really haven’t made any gains,” says Elizabeth Ames, vice president of strategic marketing and alliances for ABI.
