AnitaB.org recently released our 2018 Insights Report for our annual Top Companies for Women Technologists program, and we learned that overall representation of women technologists grew 1.1% from 2017. Although this statistic represents thousands of new jobs for women technologists, we know that tech companies can do even better.
Many leaders attempt to fix diversity problems within their companies by implementing mandatory diversity training. However, our research shows that these companies ended up promoting fewer women, likely due to poor company culture. The lack of promotion and opportunity drives many women to leave these companies or the tech industry altogether.
