On Friday, July 26, AnitaB.org held our 2019 Innovation CO-LABoration. This one-day event, titled “Women of Color in Tech Taking Center Stage,” brought together a wide range of innovators and changemakers to find new ways to promote diversity in the tech field. Among our attendees were Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) Physics instructor Amy Thompson and SBCC Coordinator of Equity Programs Adolfo Corral, who brought 10 of their students to take part in this unique experience.
“It’s not every day I see something relatable in tech,” said student Vanessa Santillan about one of the virtual reality demos showcased at the Innovation CO-LAB. “[Tecnolatinx’s] virtual gallery was dedicated to migrant mothers. I felt at home browsing through their 3D space.”
