What’s it Like being in the Gender Minority at GHC?

When Ryan Schoen arrived in Houston for the Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC), he wondered if his company sent him there by mistake. He didn’t see any other men among the thousands of attendees, and he began to feel intimidated and isolated. He soon realized what it means to be part of the gender minority, something women in tech face every day. “It takes actually participating in something like this, actually feeling how it starts to eat away at your self-confidence and self-worth, to begin seeing even the blurriest picture of what it must be like for those who face this challenge on such a large scale,” Ryan writes.
