Women in Tech Protest Against Discrimination

Although Google fired James Damore, the employee who wrote an essay berating women technologists, gender bias is a persistent problem across the industry. To create real change, women need to speak up about discrimination and other challenges they face at work. Elizabeth Ames, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Alliances, and Programs at, encourages women in tech to stage a 24-hour protest to show their determination in the fight for diversity and inclusion.

“I think this is an opportunity to remind people that these are people who work hard every day and that maybe we shouldn’t take their contributions for granted,” Elizabeth told Refinery29.
