Women tech leaders say SXSW is better this time

A year ago at SXSW, U.S. CTO Megan Smith was repeatedly interrupted by two fellow male panelists. This year, SXSW organizers have made efforts to be more inclusive of women and other underrepresented minorities presenting at the conference. Elizabeth Ames, ABI’s Senior VP of Marketing, Alliances and Programs, noticed a difference. “SXSW has made featuring diverse voices a goal,” she told USA Today’s Jon Swartz. “There is an increasing awareness of the diversity challenges that tech faces.”
