Bank of America Invests in Women Technologists

AnitaB.org is proud to offer Top Companies for Women Technologists, a national program to recognize organizations building workplaces where women technologists can thrive. In 2018, we evaluated 80 companies, accounting for more than 628,000 women technologists across a variety of fields. Top Companies is the only program that provides a consistent benchmark of the technical workforce across a wide range of industries.

Our three awards are based on technical workforce size — less than 1,000 employees, 1,000 to 10,000 employees, and more than 10,000 employees. Each of our three winners had the highest overall score in their respective categories.

Bank of America, one of the world’s leading financial institutions, earned the highest score of our participating companies with technical workforces of more than 10,000. Bank of America leaders tell us they are dedicated to making the financial lives of female clients and customers better, and advancing the economic empowerment of women in communities around the world.

Leaders at Bank of America believe that diversity and inclusion are key factors as they work to meet the needs of clients, communities, and employees. The company has a long tradition of supporting women’s economic empowerment and leadership, and its leaders continue to find ways to attract and retain diverse women technologists.

“Women like Grace Hopper, Anita Borg, and Katherine Johnson have shown us from the beginning of computing that women are great technologists,” said Catherine Bessant, Chief Operations and Technology Officer at Bank of America. “At Bank of America, we work every day… to move the needle on hiring and advancing women technologists… This award shows that our efforts are paying off, but more importantly, it inspires us to do even more. Greater diversity makes our team stronger and better able to serve our clients in every way.”

Bank of America promotes diversity through initiatives such as:

  • Partnerships that support girls and young women to build a pipeline of future female talent.
  • Career development programs that provide mentoring and sponsorship for career advancement.
  • Industry-leading benefits and programs.

We’re proud to recognize Bank of America’s ongoing leadership in supporting women technologists, and to help the company’s leadership quantify their progress toward a more equitable workplace.
