Beth Pruitt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University. Her research is in the field of microsystems and their application to biomechanics and microscale mechanobiology.
While she has contributed to significant advances in MEMS design and manufacturing and their applications to micromechanical characterization techniques, her optimization work on piezoresistive force sensors and new discoveries in the biomechanics of mechanotransduction has established her as a world leader in the MEMS and mechanobiology communities. Beth has also worked tirelessly to invite a full spectrum of participants to join in engineering endeavors, from undergraduate researchers to projects targeting middle school girls. She has also organized multiple events for women at MEMS conferences. The aim of her work is to connect women students with women professors and industry.
