Elif Dede

Elif Dede is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Computer Science at Binghamton University. Ms. Dede was an undergraduate student within the Dual Diploma program of Binghamton University and Bogazici University and holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Information Systems from both universities. She received her Master’s in Computer Science from Binghamton University in 2009. She has spent two summers at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs collaborating with scientists on building and evaluating software tools for distributed scientific computing. In the summer of 2013 she was a graduate intern at Intel Corporation working on characterizing cloud storage system workloads.

“Before GHC and Systers I tended to think that my problems were “only mine”. I wasn’t aware that there were others struggling through the same issues. Somehow this realization liberated me and helped me accept that I am a successful woman, I am good at what I do and it is only normal that once in awhile I will meet problems, and these problems will not define me. There is always light at the end of the tunnel.”
