Emma Freeman

Carleton College Scholarship Recipient

Emma is currently a sophomore at Carleton College, far from her native Connecticut. She plans to be a Computer Science major with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. At school, she works as a grader for intro comp sci class, in the alumni relations office, and as a tour guide. She enjoys dancing and playing for the club soccer team. She is a member of Carleton Advocates Against Sexual Harassment and Assault as well as the Collective for Women’s Issues. Emma is honored to be given the opportunity to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration conference.

“I was inspired to pursue computing by my father. My dad taught me the importance of an education in math and science and encouraged me to no end. He also kept me informed about successful females in the Computer Science, which has made me even more thrilled to be part of the GHC community this fall.”
