On August 3, 1993, Gerald J. and Marriah K. gave birth to a baby girl by the name of Jazette Johnson in White Plains, NY. Growing up Jazette always had a fascination with technology because as a young girl her mother always had her around computers and other electronic devices. As she grew older her fascination for technology developed more. Currently, Jazette is a junior Computer Science major at Spelman College. After obtaining her Bachelors of Science her plan is to pursue a doctoral degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Human Computer Interaction.
“Dr. Yolanda Rankin and Dr. Jakita Thomas are both inspirational women of computing to me. he ratio of African- American women in computing with Doctoral Degrees compared to other races/genders is significantly smaller. Against all odds these women have overcome many obstacles they’ve faced to make it this far.”
