Kacey Coughlin

Peregrine Semiconductor, UCSD
Bloomberg Scholarship Recipient

Currently working as a full time Web Developer & SharePoint Admin for Peregrine Semiconductor, as well as going to school part time for Interdisciplinary Computing & the Arts at UCSD, I am also the Professional Development Co-Chair for Women in Computing at UCSD. I speak on panels to incoming freshman students on behalf of the ICAM major for the Visual Arts department, and am the Lead Python Developer for the Walking Tools project, led by faculty lecturer Brett Stalbaum. I enjoy attending developer meetup and hackathon events, engineering conferences, and co-hosting an Apple news podcast.

Question: Why do you think it’s important for you to attend GHC?

Answer: “I have always been the only woman in my position/department/job, and that can be discouraging, not to mention lonely. Getting together and sharing with other women in the same situation serves as a kind of “battery recharge”, and reminds me why I am doing what I am doing.”
