Snigdha Chaturvedi

Snigdha is a third year PhD student in Computer Science at University of Maryland College Park, and is advised by Dr. Hal Daume III. Her interests lie in Text Mining and Probabilistic Modeling. She was previously a researcher at IBM Research, New Delhi where she worked in the Information Management group on problems related to text segmentation systems. She spent her summer of 2013 building relevance prediction models for non-factoid question answering in the Statistical Content-Analysis group at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. Previously, she completed her Bachelor degree in Computer Science at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur.

Question: Why do you think it’s important for you to attend GHC?

Answer: “As a young computer scientist, I have found meeting other females computer scientists to be highly encouraging. Simply listening to challenges faced by others, their mistakes and steps taken to overcome stereotypes can go a long way.”
