Sumita Barahmand is a PhD student in computer science at University of Southern California. She received her B.Sc. in Information Technology Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Iran.
Her doctoral research focuses on benchmarking data stores used in social networks. As a part of her research, she has developed the BG framework (www.BGBenchmark.org) to evaluate the processing capability of data stores used in social networks and to exercise various aspects of data stores, including throughput, response time, consistency and scalability.
Sumita’s research on BG was the basis for her receiving the Google PhD Fellowship 2013 in Cloud Computing.
