Blackbaud’s Initiatives Create a Diverse and Inclusive Environment

AnitaB.org is proud to offer Top Companies for Women Technologists, a national program to recognize organizations building workplaces where women technologists can thrive. In 2018, we evaluated 80 companies, accounting for more than 628,000 women technologists across a variety of fields. Top Companies is the only program that provides a consistent benchmark of the technical workforce across a wide range of industries.

Our three awards are based on technical workforce size — less than 1,000 employees, 1,000 to 10,000 employees, and more than 10,000 employees. Each of our three winners had the highest overall score in their respective categories.

The company currently has an equal gender balance in the workforce thanks to its many initiatives focused on diversity.

These initiatives include a formalized diversity and inclusion program as well as an Executive Women’s Community program. These initiatives were first championed by Mike Gianoni when he became Blackbaud’s President and CEO in 2014. From then on, other initiatives and affinity groups emerged to promote and advance an inclusive culture within the company.

“Diversity of thought and experience always leads to better performance for our company and, most importantly, better solutions for our customers,” said Mary Beth Westmoreland, Chief Technology Officer at Blackbaud. “We are proud to be recognized alongside other companies and leaders who are committed to helping women in technology succeed, and are also committed to continuing in the work we know we must do in every category of diversity.”

Other Blackbaud initiatives include:

  • Employee-led affinity groups like Women in Technology, Women in Sales, Black Employees Encouraging Diversity (BLEND), Pride@Blackbaud (LGBTQ), and Employees with Disabilities.
  • Regularly conducted unconscious-bias workshops to promote a safe and inclusive environment for all employees.
  • Routine gender pay-equity audits to ensure employees are fairly compensated.

We’re proud to recognize Blackbaud’s ongoing leadership in supporting women technologists, and to help the company’s leadership quantify their progress toward a more equitable workplace.
