What Makes Our Program Different?

  • Beginner-focused: No programming experience necessary, but previous exposure to tech is advantageous. If you are interested in becoming a software developer, we strongly encourage you to apply!
  • Learn & Earn: Instead of paying thousands of dollars upfront or losing a percentage of your future earnings to pay back your bootcamp, this program is free, and you will get paid to learn software development.
  • Hybrid Program: The Learning Phase of this program is 100% remote. As a Learner, you will receive hardware, software, and other resources to create an accommodating virtual learning environment. Upon successful completion of the Learning Phase, Learners will convert into Apprentices and commute 2-3 days a week as part of Intuit’s hybrid workplace, to collaborate in person with their team at the Intuit office in Mountain View.
  • Launch a New Career: Upon program completion, you may have an opportunity to start a full-time tech career at Intuit.

After Completing the Program…

FAQs

  • What is the Anitab.org Power Skills curriculum?

The Learning Phase consists of two key components to prepare Learners for the technical skills of a software engineer and the communication and leadership development needed to successfully work on a team and independently. The latter is the Power Skills curriculum which provides guidance and support for navigating through topics such as imposter syndrome, self-advocacy, and growth mindset.

  • Do I need programming experience to participate?

This program is beginner-focused but previous exposure to tech is recommended. If you are interested and can dedicate 10 months to learning how to become a software developer, this program may be the right fit for you. If you do have programming or adjacent technical experience, you can apply for the program as well!

  • How long is the program?

The Apprenticeship Pathway Program launches its Learning Phase on September 5, 2023, and the Apprenticeship Phase will end on June 28, 2024. Participants are expected to participate full-time for the duration of the program.

  • Is there a tuition fee?

This program is free for participants! Not only that, but you will also be paid throughout the program to better enable full-time participation.

  • Will this program be remote or in-person?

The Learning Phase will be 100% virtual, but Intuit follows a hybrid working model which requires in-person participation at their Mountain View, CA headquarters during the Apprenticeship Phase.

  • What if I don’t have a laptop, webcam, or fast home internet?

No worries! Please apply for this opportunity anyway! We will provide technical support to all program participants, so you have an ideal setup for virtual learning.

  • What if I am not chosen for the Intuit employment opportunity?

AnitaB.org will still offer support, primarily through the AnitaB.org Membership platform.

If the Learning Phase was completed successfully, you will still have a portfolio of the work you did throughout Treehouse’s Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree.

  • How are learners supported in the Learning Phase?

APP learners are integrated into Treehouse’s Techdegree community, where they will have access to weekly office hours hosted by Treehouse Student Support Specialists and a network of fellow Techdegree learners. Learners also receive learning skills and leadership development coaching from AnitaB.org.

  • What’s the application process like?

    Program Application

    · Applicants complete a standard application form that will ask questions about the applicant as well as a series of questions requiring open-ended long-form answers of no more than 2,000 characters (spaces included). Applicants will receive a confirmation email upon submission (please check spam/junk folder). Next steps will be communicated via email.

    Starter Track

    · Applicants who are selected to move on to the next stage will be invited to complete a Treehouse Starter Track Course, which is a 100% virtual course that should take around 5-7 days to complete. After completing the coursework, APP staff will follow up with 3-4 simple, technical questions based on information included in the Starter Track.

    Interview

    · The interview is another component of the Admissions Phase in which applicants will be invited to chat with APP staff in a 30-minute Zoom call. While APP staff will have questions for applicants, applicants are encouraged to bring their questions forward as well!

    · In addition to the first interview, advancing candidates will be invited to participate in a final round interview before participants are selected.

  • Are apprentices paid during this program?

Due to the demanding nature of this program, apprentices will also be paid a livable wage to alleviate the stresses of working and studying simultaneously. As such, participants will be paid throughout the Learning Phase and Apprenticeship Phase in accordance with Intuit’s wages; Intuit pays all interns and apprentices $40/hr.

Important: This is not a full-time salary like one would expect as a professional software engineer, but rather an hourly wage that is intended to alleviate the financial burden while covering basic living expenses throughout the program.

  • Will apprentices be provided with benefits like health care coverage for the duration of the Apprenticeship Pathway Program?

Apprentices will receive benefits comparable to interns, and while there are some perks like access to an Employee Assistance Program, health care coverage is not a current benefit for apprentices/interns.

However, upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship Pathway Program, if apprentices are offered a full-time role, they will then have access to world-class health care coverage.

Here are the benefits available to apprentices by Intuit, as published on their website.

  • What’s the time commitment for APP?

The Apprenticeship Pathway Program is an intensive program, and apprentices are expected to devote 40 hours a week for the duration of this program.

While we are sure you could probably find a way to make everything work (full-time job, school, saving the world, etc. ), taking on other academic or professional pursuits while going through this program will be detrimental to you and your peers.

The Mountain View cohort will launch the Learning Phase on September 5, 2023, and the most successful apprentices (we hope that’s you!) will focus on this opportunity as your full-time job for the duration of the program.
