Invest in Women’s Potential
The AnitaB.org Tech Journey Fund (TJF) offers a new approach to student investment—an abundance view toward who qualifies for scholarships and opportunities. With the growing diversity of students entering computing pathways, industry and education need to innovate around who, why, and how they provide support. AnitaB.org sees investment in struggling yet striving female computing students as an opportunity to change the face and culture of computing. Therefore, the Tech Journey Fund Scholarships aim to help students overcome major–and immediate–life challenges that pose a threat to completion of their degrees. We do this by providing quick access funding through an investment lens, simultaneously delivering access to differentiated support and resources that will help students enhance their skills, build their personal and professional networks, and identify career opportunities aligned with their computing passions through participation in AnitaB.org programming.
These awards are distributed via two mechanisms: Bridge and Last Mile awards.
- Bridge awards help tech women stay on track in their education and career pursuits by providing quick-access funding up to $4,000 to address short-term cash-flow issues that can be catastrophic for a low-income student. Examples include instances like a car repair or medical bills, food or housing expenses, or unexpected student fees.
- Last Mile funding provides support up to $12,000 to students in the final stages of their technical education journey, paid directly to their training institution.
