Democratizing Chip Design

On Thursday, November 18, at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET we held an Elevating Conversation focused on “Democratizing Chip Design.” In order to overcome the cost barriers to chip making, the hardware industry must continue to develop open-source technology.

In this panel discussion, hosted by President and CEO of AnitaB.org, Brenda Darden Wilkerson, and moderated by Deborah Soung, Engineer at SiFive, we heard from industry professionals and academic researchers on whether or not open-source digital design tools can replace traditionally licensed ones.

We learned about the benefits of a robust open-source hardware ecosystem, and left inspired to contribute to the open hardware community!
