OFFICIAL RULES

PLEASE REVIEW THESE OFFICIAL RULES BEFORE ENTERING THE GIVEAWAY. ENTRY TO THE GIVEAWAY IS FREE AND NO PAYMENT OR PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.

a. ELIGIBILITY. No purchase necessary. Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology (“AnitaB.org”) will conduct a Giveaway for up to six (6) In-Person Grace Hopper Celebration 2024 event (“GHC 24”) registrations (the “Giveaway”). ANITAB.ORG , a national 501(c)(3) non‐profit organization whose mission is to connect, inspire, and guide women in computing, is governed by these rules (the “Official Rules”). The Giveaway is open to residents of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico)(the “Entrant”) and who submit a letter describing why they want to attend GHC in 200 words or less. Employees, directors, officers, and principals, of AnitaB.org , its subsidiaries, affiliates, contractors, agents and member of their immediate families or households are not eligible to participate. Current GHC 24 registrants are not eligible to participate. Upon entering the Giveaway, entrants agree to waive any rights their state of residence may provide in regard to sweepstakes and contests. The Giveaway is void where prohibited by law. One entry per person. All Entrants must be 18 years or older at the time of submission to be eligible.

b. HOW TO ENTER. Entrants must write a letter (200 words or less) answering the question “Why do you want to attend GHC?” and email it to marketing@anitab.org no later than 11:59 PM PT on September 11, 2024. In addition to the letter, Entrants must supply their name, email, and country of residence. Only individuals to complete all of the above will be eligible for the Giveaway. One entry per person.

c. PRIVACY POLICY. The information submitted with your Giveaway entry will only be used by AnitaB.org in accordance with applicable data protection regulation and the Privacy Policy of AnitaB.org , for the purposes of administrating your participation in the Giveaway. AnitaB.org will not transfer or disclose the information submitted by you to any third parties. d. PROMOTION PERIOD. The Giveaway registration period starts Monday, September 9, 2024 and all entries must be received by Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time (the “Promotion Period”). Entries generated by any other means not outlined in these Official Rules are prohibited and will be automatically disqualified.

e. SELECTION OF WINNERS. The selection of the winners will be based on the review of Entrant’s letters by AnitaB.org in its sole discretion from all eligible entries received during the Promotion Period. While there is no strict rubric, Entrants are encouraged to present the most compelling reason to be selected for this Giveaway. AnitaB.org reserves the right to make its selection entirely in its sole discretion. No further details about the selection process will be supplied. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Winners will be emailed at the email address provided when entering the Giveaway. All winners must confirm their acceptance of the prize by no later than September 23, 2024. Any winner who does not confirm their acceptance will forfeit the prize and AnitaB.org will select another winner.

f. PRIZES. Six (6) winners will be awarded, each consisting of one (1) In-Person registration code for Grace Hopper Celebration 2024 in Philadelphia, PA. The prize only covers the registration itself, so the winner is solely responsible for travel, meals, accommodations, lodging, transportation, and any other costs associated with attending GHC 24. The total approximate retail value of all Grand Prizes is $1,298 USD.

g. GENERAL CONDITIONS. The conduct of the Giveaway is governed by the applicable laws of the United States of America and any applicable state laws, which take precedence over any rule to the contrary herein. The Giveaway is void where prohibited by law. Each winner will be notified by email and may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Publicity and Liability. In the event of noncompliance, if the winner cannot be reached at the email address submitted with entry, or if the prize or prize notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected. No alternative or substitution of any prized will be offered. No prize transfer is permitted. Limit one (1) prize per person. Participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of AnitaB.org are final and binding in all respects. All taxes, fees, and surcharges on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winner. By participating and accepting a prize, so long as there is no legal prohibition, winner agrees to the use of his/her name for advertising or publicity purposes and to the use of statements made by or attributed to him/her relating to AnitaB.org or this promotion, and releases any and all rights to said use without further compensation. In the event of a dispute, all entries will be deemed to be made by the holder of the email account associated with the entry. All claims rating in any manner to this Giveaway or to any Submission must be resolved in the federal or state courts in San Mateo County, California.

h. RELEASE OF LIABILITY. All Entrants release AnitaB.org, its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, employees and all others associated with AnitaB.org, and the Giveaway from any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from the Giveaway and/or acceptance or use of the prizes, including liability for personal injury, death, damages, or loss. AnitaB.org is not responsible for entries that are corrupted or otherwise not received correctly or for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on‐line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of email, or on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof, including injury or damage to participant’s or to any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in the Giveaway. AnitaB.org assumes no responsibility for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Giveaway or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the Giveaway. AnitaB.org assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, including lost, late or misdirected entries. AnitaB.org is not responsible for user cheating or fraud by any entrants. Any activities intended to disrupt or interfere with the proper play of the Giveaway, or defraud AnitaB.org in any way may be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Participants engaging in any of the foregoing activities will be disqualified and any prizes won will be forfeited. If, for any reason, the Giveaway is not capable of proceeding as planned, including without limitation infection of computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of AnitaB.org which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Giveaway, AnitaB.org reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Giveaway.

i. WINNERS LIST. The winners will be contacted on September 16, 2024.
