24 Companies Advancing Women in Computing

A record 24 companies have demonstrated their commitment to advancing women in computing by participating in this year’s Top Company for Women in Computing ABIE Award, an initiative that benchmarks participating companies’ recruitment, representation and advancement of women technologists against peer data and research-based industry standards.

The 24 participants represent the largest ever group to submit their technical workforce data to AnitaB.org since the award was first given in 2011. AnitaB.org salutes the following participants, in alphabetical order, for their commitment to women in computing: American Express, Bank of America, BNY Mellon, CA Technologies, Dell, eBay, EMC, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, Google, HP, Intuit, Microsoft, NetApp, NeuStar, PARC: a Xerox Company, Rackspace, Salesforce.com, SAP, Teradata, Thomson Reuters, ThoughtWorks, VMware, and Yahoo!

“We were extremely impressed with the sheer number and quality of companies that participated this year. They are all companies that understand that innovation drives success, and diversity drives innovation,” said Telle Whitney, president and CEO of AnitaB.org.

Each company that participates in the Top Company initiative receives a custom report evaluating how their representation of women technologists stacks up against peer data and industry benchmarks. Women make up 23% of the computing workforce in America, yet female representation at many leading technology companies is significantly less. The custom reports, which track both baseline representation and year-over-year progress, help companies to identify their strengths and weaknesses, sparking the actions that are necessary to make progress.

AnitaB.org honors all of this year’s Top Company participants for taking an essential step towards advancing women in computing. Bank of America, the 2014 Top Company Award winner, will be honored at the Women of Vision Award Banquet on May 8 in Santa Clara, California.
