Esther Oyewole
Esther Oyewole
Program Director at Tech ME
Congratulations to Esther Oyewole, one of our 2020 Pass It On Award Winners. Esther was always fascinated by technology, even as a toddler.
I was always pulling apart electronic devices to see what makes them work. In high school, I was drawn to software development because I wanted to create a product or app to positively impact the world.
She did exactly that as part of the team that created an app where women and girls can report cases of sexual violence and abuse. Esther wanted to demonstrate the power tech has to change the world to others in her community.
Her deep personal interest drove her to create tech learning environments for more girls like her. As a Program Director at Tech ME, she spearheaded an after-school program aimed at developing the interest of girls in computer science by teaching coding and programming classes designed to be hands-on, supportive, enriching and most importantly, fun.
She will use this award to further her work creating a pipeline of girls into the tech sector. AnitaB.org is proud to support her project teaching girls to code in her community.
Esther reminds us all to tap into our inner confidence and persevere.
Be confident and fearless. There will come times when it feels like you are the outsider. In times like these, remember why you started on the path and the passion you have.
Congrats again to Esther and all our 2020 Pass-it-On Award winners!
