Technical Equity Experience Study (TechEES)

women in conversation

In today’s rapidly evolving tech ecosystem, the experiences of technologists within this environment are crucial for understanding the dynamics of innovation, diversity, and challenges within the industry. The Technical Equity Experience Study* (TechEES) is a mixed-method investigation into the lived experiences of women and nonbinary technologists in the tech ecosystem.

The goal of this study is to understand the intersectional experience of women and nonbinary technologists when analyzing data at multiple cross-sections including career level, age, education level, employment status, disabilities, parenthood, among others. In addition, TechEES provides recommendations for companies, organizations, and institutions to ensure women and nonbinary technologists thrive within the tech ecosystem.

*In 2024, TechEES was renamed from the Technical Equity Experience Survey to the Technical Equity Experience Study, to more broadly include all its elements. In addition to surveys, we conduct qualitative data collection and additional year-round reporting and follow-up research that we want to be included outside of just our main survey effort.
