The Reasons Behind the Lack of Women Leaders in Tech

In India, over 40% of computer science graduates are women. They often times begin their tech careers with equal pay and similar job positions as their male counterparts. Despite all of this, there are very few women leaders in technology as more and more women drop out of the industry. Geetha Kannan, managing director of India, explains factors such as unconscious bias, stereotypes, and the belief that women are responsible for the household lead to women leaving the tech field.

“Many women also tend to have less confidence and lack of inspiration,” she states. “That’s the reason why women do not reach the leadership roles in the technology sector.”
