Project Title: Women in Construction Technology Skills Empowerment

The Women in Construction Technology Skills Empowerment Project will conduct 10 days of training of 50 female civil engineers on Advanced Computer Aided Design (ArchiCAD) and Engineering Drawing and Cads(AutoCAD) software to equip them with tools for easier and more intuitive building design, faster and more precise construction documentation, and more accurate schedules and cost estimation skills. These leaders will pass it on by serving as construction technology teachers in 10 construction secondary schools to empower young girls through 30 teaching sessions organized by the project within vulnerable schools.

The project aims to empower young women in construction secondary schools on ArchiCAD and AutoCAD software to make them competent engineers in construction technology. These skills are in demand in Mbarara City, where information technology education is challenged by a lack of infrastructure and trained teachers.

Spofia is businesswomen and a social entrepreneur with a bachelors’ degree in civil engineering. She is the founder of a women civil engineers association which aims to improve women’s capacity, skills, and knowledge in construction through trainings and job market makers for young women and girls passionate about civil engineering.
