AnitaB.org is outraged at the hatred and bigotry seen during the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, this weekend, and deeply saddened at the loss of life. We extend our condolences and concern to those who have been injured, both physically and emotionally.
We condemn the violent attacks on innocent people, and reject the hate-filled speech and unacceptable bigotry of rally organizers and their followers.
We believe in the rights of all people—regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or identity—to participate fully in society.
We advocate for the participation of all women, including women of color, in the technical workforce. All women, especially women of color, must feel physically safe and recognized as full participants with equal rights. People of color must be able to feel that their families and loved ones can remain safe and recognized as respected members of our community. Nothing less is acceptable.
We look forward to working together to build a world where the people who create technology represent the societies that actually use it.
